“Firefighters – 9-11”
Our Towers fell on a sunny day - life of loved ones passed away.
As I watched the towers fall, saw the planes crash in the walls, my tears mixed with those who shed, their blood – in rubble … left in Towers’stead.
Oh, men of fire, heart's aflame, courageous yet, gentle - with tears all the same.
I saw you there rushing in, through smoke and fire … buildings caving in. Crying as you stopped to pray, then, kept digging – day after day.
You have not failed - though none were found, still left living - there underground. A nation united with you on that day, And, with new vigor the people come to say…
“…we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain – that nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government, of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.” (A. Lincoln)
